Aquatics - Spring 2010

Join us for aquatics fun!  Group, Private and Semi-Private swimming lessons are offered at the USA Water Polo National Aquatic Center located on the Joint Forces Training Base.  Classes are offered for all ages and abilities.   All swimming lesson instructors are certified by the American Red Cross and our instructor to child ratios are kept low to provide the highest quality classes.  Join us and learn how to swim or improve upon your skills!  For more information on swimming lessons and lesson registration, click here Adult Lap Swimming is also available Monday – Friday at various times.  For more information on lap swimming, click here.  

Summer Day Camp 2010 

Registration Begins Monday, April 5, 2010

Ages 5-15, June 21 - August 27, 2010.  Daily:  9am to 4pm and Extended Care:  7:30am to 6pm.  Register for one or more days and weekly.  Campers need to bring a sack lunch.  Give your child a fun-filled day with games, arts & crafts, outdoor activities. movies, beach, pool and main excursions every Thursday.  Beverages and snacks provided.  Full payment required for daily registration, and $35 non refundable deposit required for weekly registration.  Limited registration so register early!!!

Halloween - 2010 Info Not Available

The annual Halloween event will be held at Laurel Park on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 6:00 - 9:00pm.  Admission is free and includes entertainment, face painting, crafts, games for kids and adults.  The event is geared toward children ages 3-12 years of age.  Come out and join us for a “ghoulishly good time for the entire family.”  Call the Recreation & Community Services Department at (562) 430-1073 for additional information

Holiday Bazaar 2010

Over 70 crafters will be selling beautiful and unique holiday decorations and gifts.  This event will be held in the Community Center, 10911 Oak St. on Saturday, November 6, 2010.  Vendors interested in participating at the Holiday Bazaar should contact the Recreation & Community Services Department at (562) 430-1073 for additional information.  This event is hosted by the Los Alamitos Senior Citizens' Club.

Amateur Photography Contest 2010
All ages are encouraged to submit color or black & white photographs taken with a 35mm or digital camera.  Maximum of four (3) photographs per person may be submitted in a variety of categories.  Photos will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges.  The Photography Exhibition will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.  Pick up complete rules and entry forms in the Community Center starting February 1, 2010 or click here for registration form.  Deadline to enter is Friday, March 5, 2010.  Entry fee is $5.00 for first photo, each additional $2 each.

 

 

 

Spring Carnival 2010
(Easter Egg Hunt & Spring Carnival)

The Spring Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Revolution Church will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, 10:00am to NOON at Laurel Park (Bloomfield & Katella).  This event is free for children ages 1012 years old featuring carnival games, family fun games and the Easter Bunny.  Be sure to bring your camera.  For more information you may call 562-430-1073.


SENIOR LUNCH AND BREAD PROGRAM

The Senior Lunch & Bread Program is offered Monday to Friday to persons 60 years and above and their spouses of any age.  Activities include billiards, bingo, card games, movies, support services and transportation.  Donations are accepted.  Reservations required and must be made at least two days in advance.  Call Site Manager Linda Klein at 562.430.1073, ext. 526 or e-mail at lklein@ci.los-alamitos.ca.us.  Meals are provided by Community SeniorServ and served in the Youth Center 10909 Oak St.
