Community Development Department The Community Development Department has four program divisions: Administration and Economic Development, Current and Advanced Planning, Neighborhood Preservation, and Building and Safety. The Administration and Economic Development Division responsibilities include: strategic planning for community-wide improvement; program development for improving both residential and business environments; retail and commercial industrial retention and expansion; and education and advocacy for City-sponsored initiatives and programs; business licensing.
Planning Division responsibilities include: Customer service related to physical development; Planning commission work program implementation; Zoning code development and administration; General Plan formulation and implementation; implementation of California Environmental Quality Act mandates; compliance monitoring for regional, state, and federal laws; and development review.Planning Commission Minutes for 2004 Neighborhood Preservation Division responsibilities include: Customer service related to maintenance of residential and business neighborhoods; cooperative effort with residents, business people, and property owners to improve the built environment and enhance property values; enforcement of property-related Municipal Code provisions. Specific programs included within this division are City Pride, Spring Cleanup and Community Development Block Grant.
Building Inspection Division responsibilities include: Customer service related to construction on private property; administration and enforcement of the Uniform Building Code, National Electric Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Housing Code, and Uniform Administrative Code; and administration of plan check services provided on behalf of the City. |
