9. ORDINANCES
A. Second
At its regular meeting of April 6, 2009, the City
Council conducted a first reading of Ordinance No. 09-01, which repeals
Ordinance No. 690 and will decrease
City Council salaries from $450 to $400 per month as part of the Budget
cutbacks for Fiscal Year 2008-09.
Recommendation:
1. Waive reading in full and authorize reading by title only of Ordinance No. 09-01; and,
2. Mayor Edgar read the title of Ordinance

10. DISCUSSION
A.
Adoption of Zoning Ordinance Amendment Z09-01,
Modifying Chapter 17.68 Appeals; and, Zoning Ordinance Amendment Z09-02 Modifying
Chapter 17.16.100 Allowing Air Conditioning Equipment in the Side Yard Setback
in the Single-Family Zone Att 1 Att 2 (Com.Dev.)
At its special meeting on March 9,
2009, the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council adopt Zoning
Ordinance Amendment Z09-01, modifying the Appeals Process in Chapter 17.68 of
the Los Alamitos Municipal Code; and, adopt Zoning Ordinance Amendment Z09-02, modifying Chapter 17.16.100,
permitting residential air-conditioning unit placement in the required side
yard setback in the Single-family (R-1) Zoning District (City initiated).
Recommendation:
1. Review and discuss of the Planning Commission’s
recommendation to approve Zoning Ordinance Amendment Z09-01, modifying the
appeals process as described in LAMC Chapter 17.68 Appeals; and Zoning Ordinance Amendment Z09-02, modifying LAMC Chapter
17.16.100 allowing air conditioning equipment placement in the side yard
setback in the Single-Family Residential (R-1) Zoning District; and,
2. Direct staff to bring to Council two
ordinances as recommended by the Planning Commission, or as Council deems
appropriate.
